Privacy

Brix reads public NYC records — HPD, DOB, ECB, DOF, ACRIS and DHCR — and presents them in plain English. This page explains what we collect about you while you use the site.

    What we collect

    • Pages you visit, searches you run, and buttons you use, so we can see what works and fix what doesn't. We keep our own record of this, alongside the services below, with a random visit ID stored in your browser rather than your name.
    • Which ad or link brought you here, when you arrive from one.
    • Your country, read once per visit from our hosting provider, so we know whether to ask your permission before any of this runs. We don't store it.
    • Your email address, only if you give it to us — to buy a report, watch a building, or send us a story.
    • Payment details are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.

We don't ask for your name, address, or phone number, and we don't build profiles of the buildings you look up.

    Who we share it with

We use Google Analytics and Google Ads (Google LLC), Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms), and Microsoft Clarity and Contentsquare. These services receive information about your visit — pages viewed, searches run, and whether you arrived from one of our ads — and set their own cookies. Clarity and Contentsquare also record how you move through a page, such as clicks and scrolling, so we can see where the site confuses people. We use all of this for measurement and to see which ads bring people who find Brix useful. We do not sell your personal information, and we don't upload your email address to any of them.

Google explains how it uses this data at business.safety.google/privacy.

    Your choices

If you're in the EEA, the UK, Switzerland or Canada, none of the measurement above runs until you agree to it — not the services, not our own record of your visit — and nothing on Brix depends on you saying yes. Everywhere else it runs unless you turn it off here. Either way you can change your mind at any time, and turning it off reloads the page so nothing is left running:

Emails from Brix — building alerts and receipts — always carry an unsubscribe link. To ask what we hold about you, or to have it deleted, email hello@getbrix.net.

Information about buildings, owners and landlords

Everything Brix publishes about a building, an owner, a company or a named landlord comes from public New York City and State records — HPD registrations and violations, DOB and ECB records, 311 complaints, ACRIS deeds, DOF records and DHCR filings — or from analysis we build on top of them, which we label as ours. Records are refreshed from the city on a regular schedule, so a page can lag the city's own file. If you believe something on Brix is wrong, out of date, or attributed to the wrong person or company, email hello@getbrix.net with the address or name and we will check it against the source record and correct what's wrong.
