Dispute and correction log

When someone tells us a rating is wrong, we trace it back to the source record. What we found, and whether anything changed, is recorded here with dates. Owners, tenants and reporters can check our work rather than take it on faith. The log opened on 16 September 2026; entries carry no details about who raised them.

    Report an ownership error

Tell us the building or company and what's wrong with the link. We check it against HPD registrations and deeds.

    Own one of these buildings?

What we will and won't change

If a rating rests on a record we read wrong — a violation attached to the wrong lot, a closed item shown as open, an owner link built on a name collision — we correct it and log it. We don't adjust the formula for one building; it's fixed and published on the rating methodology page. Where the city's own record is wrong, we say so and leave it standing, because that's what a reader checking the source will find.

What happens when you file one

    1. You send the address or BBL and the signal you think is wrong.
    2. We pull the underlying city record for that lot and compare it to what the page shows.
    3. If we read it wrong, we fix the data and the rating moves on the next refresh. If the record supports the rating, it stands and we say why.
    4. Either way the outcome is written up here with the date it came in and the date it closed. Declined disputes are logged the same as corrections.

Entries are published once resolved, or sooner when the dispute is substantive and still open. Ratings come from city records and should not be the sole basis for housing decisions.
