818 Crown Street, Brooklyn

Small four-unit Crown Heights rental where the building stays out of municipal filings while the surrounding block carries heavy noise and sanitation calls.

A 1924 four-family brick walk-up on Crown Street in Crown Heights. The small building stays out of municipal complaint logs, but the surrounding blockface sees active party noise, maintenance calls, and indoor air reports. Three things to know:

Late-night party sound concentrates on the surrounding blocks. Within three blocks, 223 residential noise calls were logged over the last year, with 116 specifically citing loud parties and music. Another 93 complaints targeted street and sidewalk sound. Late-night sound carries heavily along the front streetface.

Indoor air quality and odor calls surface on the surrounding block. Residents within three blocks logged 5 indoor air quality complaints over the last year, compared to 435,624 residential noise calls citywide. Odor and air-quality calls at this scale typically point to lower-level venting or riser bleed that travels between floors.

Pest and mold calls concentrate on neighboring lots. Neighboring properties within three blocks filed 130 unsanitary condition reports over the last 12 months, including 82 pest complaints and 35 mold calls. While these target surrounding addresses, trash and pest issues on a residential block routinely move between adjacent structures.

Quieter signals on this building and the blocks around it:

• 70 illegal parking complaints within three blocks over the last year, mostly double-parking and blocked curb space
• 60 commercial noise complaints logged within three blocks over the last 12 months
